Finally on 31st August the grape harvest started.
It is very exacting work, in this period you have the result
of a year of work in the vineyard.
Maurizio oversees the vinification process with careful attention and concentration.
The work in the cellar is constant, serious and accurate.
It also has a joyful part, as it recalls the traditional grape harvests,
when the families met with friends and relatives and that moment took on a festive air.
For me the grape harvest is a galaxy of emotions, involving all five senses.
The sound of the tractor coming near and moving away,
the crates full of grape bunches where the bees suck the sweet and ripe berries,
the chit-chat of the grape harvesters in the distance,
the smell of the grapes and of the must,
which are never the same and never ordinary, the marc, the grape-stones,
the grape stalks, the forms, the colours and the sensations.
Every year the approaching of the grape harvest takes on a halo of magic.
